CV maximum operating angles
Beetle = 12 deg
Bus= 17 deg
Porsche 924/944/181= 23 deg
Porsche 930= 25deg
Bus and 924/944/181 are also interchangeable
does this sound right ?

No, did not buy.
will still need to get them done, but probably will use a local engineering shop:thumb unless the price is right for the others and they're ceramic coated
I now have a good 1800 Kombi box, now doing the research on the CV's.

I think you will find it safest to run either the bus and porsche 924/944/181 to a maximum of 17 degrees. You need to ensure you got the right CV
before trying to run 22 degrees.

but I think where it says type 2 and 4 are interchangable cos they are both 28mm should be 34mm.

Thanks Wes, already checked out the sites :thumb just wanted to confirm their findings
I will use the 924/944 CV's for the extra angles, probably buy new so they are the right ones, but will use the measurements as supplied to
check.

Currently reading Jeff Hibbards BajaBugs and Buggies. About a third of it is devoted to suspension setups and about two pages on CV options. A good
read.
I think I feel more confused after reading it as there is so much that can be done.

Just got a quote for a complete brand new 930 set up to suit my buggy and it came in a $700 US. Ouch do not think I will bother going with those

CV’s the Off Road racer’s nightmare, lol
Yes you can get 23 to 24 deg from 944 CV’s but don’t accelerate at this angle or it all goes south. You will save money in the long run going to 930
CV’s. Books like Jeff Hibbard’s Baja Bugs & buggies (published in the mid 80’s) are top books for playing, but when it comes to horsepower and
racing it doesn’t stop there. To use 25 deg on our Racecar we need 930 CV’s, 4130 CV Boot Flanges, 4130 CV cages and we also use a CV polish bit to
clearance new 930 CV’s. Ok this is Off Road racing and not black track but we don’t have the neck-snapping traction in the dirt.
Some Prices from Australian suppliers if it helps:
930CV from $130
Gearbox output flanges & axle flanges exchange $70ea
Chromoly cages from $100
Chromoly Boot flanges $45ea (a must)

Guess I'm lucky this was done. Modified type 3 drive flanges, 930 cv's, romac billet axles. Should hold up to the subie.

they are the same as the 930 porsche CV which is bigger again in size than the 924/944/kombi CV........................big dollars for gearbox flanges
and axles and stub axles
so I'm told !:jesus
