Personalised Number Plates
Just found out you have to pay an annual fees of $100 for even a simple white personalised number plate...
Should've bought one when I had the chance last year when it was a one off for $173, not impressed :puke

also have a plate for my bike on hold in north sydney, went into the rta in taree to get it tranfered up. they want ot charge me 18 bucks for
postage. this is a scam. it goes in their internal mailbag!
i suppose it is all about self serving politicians than that of the people.

What rot
I think we should start a petition campain against this rubbish. basicly you are getting charged another annual registration fee, we already pay
registration fee's and a plate is part and parcel of this arrangement they have to give you one, if you want a personal letter arrangement and
want to pay the one off extra payment who owns it? I always thought that if you pay for something you own it. I wonder if I could charge them for
instalation costs, and maintenance!
In another post there was a person who said they got defected for not displaying their plate at the right height, What is the rquirement for front
licence plates in NSW, I have heard that you do not have to display a front plate, if this is this so, how could they book you for not having it at
the required height!
Governments seem to be getting out of control with new charges and tax's, what do they actually spend it on. Our roads, trains and hospitals are
all starving for money, most of all the public utilitys have been privatised wefare and public spending has been cut, the more we give them the less
they seem to have to spend? whats going on? How many pay rises have MP's recieved over the last four years, and how many have low income earners
recieved? Maybe the PM should stay in a cheaper hotel when he is OS $13.000 a night is a bit more than the average 5 star joint!
I know I am raving on a bit, but why do the public always have to suffer and they have an open public funded credit card?
Ill get off the box now..

Here in Vic, they supplied faulty plates. The white paint faded and you couldn't read them properly, so they made you replace them with new ones
at your expense.....and if you didn't replace them they would fine you...
Imagine owning a business like that....You supply the customer a faulty product, and then you get the cops to force the customers to come back and buy
some more.....

I think it depends on what state you are in as to charges por personalised ir custom number plates.
When I lived in N.T. I had "KOMBI" on my '73 camper. cost me $50 no more to pay, no annual charges. when I moved back to S.A. the same
plate was gonna cost me $150 per year.
I had "GHIA 64" on my Karmann, that cost me $120 once off, but I was meant to have yellow plates with green letters :puke
I got some plates made up with the same lettering in a different colour that looked much better.
Now I can get the same for $170, but with choice of colour.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.

Hi
This sucks, I was going to get a set of personal plates for my son when he's older.
I wonder what would happen if I painted my existing personal premium plates?
A few years ago I lost my front plate, in the old days the RTA gave you a letter exemption and if the cops pulled you over you showed them your
exemption letter, I rang the RTA to do this again, I had to buy another pair of standard plates until mine were remade.

...yep, I have the Qld retro ones on my '63 (original rego from dealership!), if they get damaged they cost $18 to replace, or at least thats
what it cost me to replace my completely mangled front plate after 'nudging' a Suzuki Alto at 70km/h!:o Best part it, I asked for one
replacement plate, and they sent me two so now I have a spare!!

I was driving on the freeway on the way to the beach on saturday and a lady pulled up next to me and told me my numberplate had just fallen off.
Stopped on the side of the road but i couldn't find it.
I hve personalised numberplates and i called VicRoads and it is costing me $75 just for 1 duplicate. What a rip-off!!!!
Glad i dont have to pay an annual fee though
