fuchs on an oval????
hi all,
just wondering what modifications i would need to fit a set of fuchs on an oval????
do i need to redrill the brakes? or can i find adaptors?
or would they fit without mods???
help !!!!!!

u will hav to change ur stud pattern at least somehow, wether redrill or adaptors. i think the best/legal way to go is to redrill blank discs and
drums. ive been quoted around the $300 mark but sure it can b done cheaper.
maybe ask CT, he's done this on his oval.

You would be better off upgrading the brakes, first to discs and type 3 drums on the rear ... fit new brake flex hoses and a dual circuit master
cylinder.
Then you can have the discs and rear hubs drilled and fit studs to takes the Fuchs

Are these the 14' wheels that sold on ebay recently. If so they looked like a complete bargain.
Porsche 944 brakes from an 83-85 car will bolt straight on to the back of your car if you can find em cheap enough. I got a complete pair for under
$500. The fronts will have to be discs for sure. Have a look at www.germanlook.com/Forums
in the brakes section. Lots of info on fitting Porsche wheels to your bug.

i couldnt believe how cheap those rims went for, someone got a bargain. if i didnt hav other plans for my oval i wuld hav snatched them up

The 4 stud VW bolt pattern is the same diameter as the fuchs, just that there is one extra hole and they space differently. Normally you can get them
redrilled using one of the 4 stud holes as a starting point, so you end up with 8 holes !!!
14 inch fuchs really arent worth that much, the early 15s are the $$ getters. The 14s are not exactly plentiful, but you cant put a decent brake
behind them due to the size, so the porsche guys dont want them, so they are cheap (or should be)

Fuchs on an oval
Use 6 or 7 inch rims with 195 tyres. They are a much better fit on the 6s than 205. And if you go to 7s they will be a tight fit on the rear. At least
the 16 x 7s I have are.
It's best to drill blank disks and hubs to suit the 911 stud pattern. Also use studs because the porsche pattern put the holes in a thinner part
of the disk than the standard beetle pattern so there is probably not a sufficient amount of thread.
Also you'll need longer studs than Kombi ones. The Porsche ones are expensive, like $10 each. Richard at Vforce has found a cheaper
alternative.
Finally you'll probably have to trim down the thread on the rear axcel and perhaps even shave the nut if you want to fit the rear centre caps.
I hope this helps.
I wasn't going to put Fuchs on my oval until Jak did a mock up of his wheels on my car. They look awesome.
