spin turn handbrake knob

anyone know if any of these spin turn knobs would fit a beetle, or if it is possible to get one for a beetle?

Doubt it, but what I used to do which cost nothing was push button in, drill a small hole straight through the outer tube & button, then you could
hold button in, drop a splitpin or nail etc straight through, which locked button in for competition use, very easy :jesus

MG's prior to the MG-B had a variation on this theme; rather than the button releasing the handbrake, the button was used to set it on; therefore the
handbrake was always in 'competition' mode, and when you wanted to park you pulled the lever up and then pressed the button.

You should be able to unscrew the original plastic button from the end, dissasemble the lever, remove the return spring, drill and tap the end of the
plastic knob so you can screw on a big flat washer on the end. I guess that you have to push forward the knob to set the handbrake when you don't
have a return spring?

the the type of Handbrake Modulus is talking about was called a "fly off" handbrake, they were fitted to quite a few British sportscars - trouble
was - bump them & they did fly off, causing quite a few damaged cars over many years, another thing I had on my big Healey that might turn up at
a swap meet is a combination lock "sleeve" that fitted over the first 5" of the handbrake with a 3 ring combination, which had the ability to lock
the button in, or out - twas great for competition or slowing down theft of car , you used to be able to buy them in the '80s

Yes Cray. EXACTLY that very easyto fit, looks good & works great , price hasn,t gone up, I THINK in early 80's they were about $30 or so
