Pop noise then running rough!
When I started my KG yesterday, I heard a popping noise then its running very rough now. It won't idle and have to rev it up off the mark otherwise
will stall. Also back fires when deccelerating. Last time it did this, it was the coil but how much bad luck can I have with coils? Is it something
else? What could it be? I checked the leads, look ok.

Popping noise
I am not familiar with Karmann's, or in fact a lot of mechanics on VWs yet, however I remember a similar hassle with my 76 Kombi years ago. It had
some type of vacuum hoses on the sides of the engine which had popped off, and subsequent driving of the Kombi was just a pain....foot down almost to
floor to get it to move, no idle, backfires.....rang my mechanic and he couldn't work it out, towed the car back to have him pop the leads back
on....wasn't I embarrassed! Not that I could see them from the back or know they were there.
Dunno if that will help but you never know, good luck.

Leaking carby manifold? That's exactly what my car did.

Ok, I will try cleaing the jet an plugs. About the leaking manifold, would it just happen like that? The car was perfect the night before! Wouldn't
happen progressively? How can I check for leaks? The "hose to ear" trick?

After 4 weeks, the KG is finally on the road again. It was a blocked pilot jet. I just removed the pilot jet and the mixture screw and blew air
through. First time worked for about 5 minutes then went bad again. Second it all good :bounce
