can I use the wiper motor on 12 volts ? or do I need I different one ?
can I use the wiring on the 12 volt conversion ?

I would not use the wiring i would use all new stuff, I have heard the 6 volt wipers will work but I can not imagine that they would work for long as I guess they were not designed to run 12 volts, A duel circuit brake master cylinder is a good idea as well. The fuel tank may work depending where you want your inlet in your bonnet. For irs mount your pivot arm boxes and bolt it all up I think. If you are going to be doing all that maybe you should think about rear adjusters at this stage as it will be easyier to instal them now.
WEll at least if I am wrong I am sure people will correct me and you will get some feed back for your post;)

Its not worth converting an early pan to IRS as the rear shock tower castings are different to that of a late model pan. What happens is the IRS trailing arm will hit at the point where the brake line is mounted on the arm when the suspension is compressed, stopping valuable wheel travel. You need to use a 1500 pan ,superbug pan(rear section), or a automatic/76 Irs pan.
If you want to run King/link front end then you just use the front section of the early pan when you are shortening/converting.:thumb

Talk to Buggy Brad about the adjusters, well worth doing.

no 62' pan!

don't do it.
I have a 62 pan under my car and am suffering the IRS arm issues craig told you about.
Apparently the best basis is the superbug pan with a balljoint framehead.
Probably would have done that myself if I'd known.
Still life is about learning lessons isn't it? :o

Seagull, that will stop the brake line being damaged, but it will not stop the trailing arm from pounding on the cast shock towers !!!!

Remember this problem will only occur if you have done an IRS conversion on a old 6v pan (up to 67') .If the pan is a late model 12v (balljoint) swing axle or IRS pan you won't have the problem .

Cheers
Craig T

Ok so I think I will cut off the cast shock towers and weld my own on from 65mm x 40 rhs , this way I can cut off the lower shocky mount and make a bracket up heigher out of the way .I would like to keep the rear as is and add the boxes for the irs to the rear torsion bar .
I would need to mesure up the torsion bars first to see if I can do this first ,seagull

dont forget to bash the shit out of the horns to get inner cv clearance. getting rid of the lower shok mounts and moving them higher is a good move both for swing & irs. need top mount ponts to be strong. mine & lots ive seen are picked up by roll bar support making a strong triange for support.

still, rather than mod a swinger, get a super pan. use its already irs backend and (usually better than'62) floor and weld on your 62 king & link pin front. cast off the front torsion bar and if we wait for brad & split bus au's measurments, get hold of some split ute spindles, backing plates and drums, machine the 62 beetle front torsion arms to accept the split ute link pins, bolt it all up and drive away with irs back and lifted front. if you want more weld in front adjusters and poss rear ajusters althoug the most useful mod will prob be for addtional rear shoks as they really start to work as the speed & terrain increases.

the jeff hibbard bajas and buggies book is a good read too...

just dont buy the stuff i want when i want it ....

Split ute Spindles? Do they have the steering arm on the top same as Country Buggy Spindles? ormal Splittu spindles have the steering arm on the bottom.

If they do have the arm on the top do you have any idea what year of split ute they are from?

i, like many others are waiting on the final ingerdients for the recepie from thread

http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=21528

once it is known, there will be a rush for parts.

i heard that cbs used the hd split ute spindles but then i've heard that these are the same as other split spindles. there are lots of diff storys. at the end of the day its a cb so it should be pretty simple and not involve too much special stuff.

what we need is to get the two spindles side by side & hit them with verniers.

as to whether the steering arm is on top or bottom of spindle on cb. i cant remember. i will try and get to take picks of my freinds one for reference.
