DIY wiring - and more

FWIW, I did my own wiring for an EJ22 into an '82 Transporter.

I did it ONLY after I had bought some instructions and a detailed wiring layout from Hobert Kennedy in California.

Kennedy Engineered Products have been adapting engines for 35 years and they specialise in Subaru-VW, but also other engines to VW. They make some very useful parts, and it is VERY well worth spending $3 to obtain their full catalogue. It is full of information/ideas.

The wiring information cost USD20, from memory and was excellent value. Armed with this, some talcum powder, a blade, side-cutters, an old door and a few other items, I had no trouble at all in doing the wiring.

I also bought their air intake designed specifically to allow an EJ22 to fit into the aircooled Transporters. (This is tricky, and different for later wasserleaker conversions.)

I would highly recommend KEP for information, and especially for their catalogue. They are very speedy in dispatching goods.

They will accept Australian Credit Card orders by phone, email or fax.

There IS a copy of the KEP catalog online at:

BUT scroll to the bottom of the page and ignore the pics if you can!

For those who don't know, there is a Yahoo egroup (subaruvanagon) devoted specially to Subarus into Transporters/Vanagons. It has over 1360 members and over 15,000 message posted. There is a LARGE files section covering all manner of issues.
