Help: Accelerator Cable
Hi,
I snapped the accelerator cable on the 72 Super Bug the other day, pulled it out but I cant find the end that attaches to the pedal, ive got a new
cable so I can see what the end looks like but its not there...
And ive tried to find where the cable comes out by pushing it all the way back up to the front but it travels far enough but doesnt pop out
anywhere!
So where does the cable attach to the pedal?
And where should it be coming out?
And is there anyway to have a look at it through the car so I can see where it is stuck?
thanks heaps
Cory

Lift the mat up on the front passenger side floor to expose the centre hump.On the front side of the centre hump directly opposite your foot pedals
you will see a black tin cover held on with 2 x 17mm bolts-remove these and the cover and you will see the other end of your cable. There will be a
split pin and washer holding the ring on the end of the throttle cable. Remove the pin and pull out the rest of your broken cable.Feed the new one
back this way and you may need help at the motor end if your outer protector sleeve is missing.Hook it all back together and adjust-don't adjust to
tight-may keep idle too high.Recheck after engine warmed up.

On my super(Lbug) they is no split pin, u just have to rotate the cble end to get it out, if you have a end you will see.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

thanks guys, it was still stuck but as soon as I could see the tube it was supposed to come out of I just cleaned stuck a self tapping bolt in and out
of there and it slid through easily so not sure what it was...
on a side note where do you bolt on the accelerator cable at the carb, ie theres the solid metal end to the cable but really I could bolt it to the
start of the wire to get more pedal and still not have a problem, but Im worried bolting it to the cable will create a weak spot, your thoughts?

It depends on the carby setup, mine has to bolt to the cable and yes you do break cables more.
