Move the jacket further down the spring plate, as close to the wheel end as possible. This will get the greatest leverage on the springplate and get it off it's stop.

Once it is off it's stop, try the screw driver trick again. try and lever the spring plate over the stop. It'll eventually move.

Also try tapping the end of the torsion bar with a hammer as your levering. It will help break the bond between the torsion bar and the spring plate.

ive just done a similar thing myself, and if u dont mind taking the torsion bar out as well, then reattach the springplate to the hub, disconnect the drive shaft and use the weight of the whole getup along with your own grunt up and down and outward and u will get it b4 too long. its a bitch of a job, but that seemed to me the easieas way if u dont mind removing the lot.

Hey Rhys

Remember when we did Jack Frost's we used a couple of tyre levers (top, bottom and from in front) and just kept wriggling the spring plate. Try tapping the spring plate near the torsion bar, as mentioned above.

Then once the spring plate looks like it will clear the stops, let the jack down so that all of the weight is off it, by about 5-10mm. Then put some leverage into the wrecking bar you have and hey presto.

Sounds easy, if you get desperate give us a ring and I'll try and slip up.

Steve

Rhys

BE CAREFUL AS THERE IS HEAPS OF TENSION ON THIS SPRING PLATE

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CLEAN

THEY USUALLY GO OFF WITH A BANG !!!

spray some WD40 lubricant onto the end onf the torsion spring as well while your using the pinch bars etc
