Lowering the front suspension
Hi!
been going through the forum looking for posts on lowering, any advice, good sites, good kits?
while I have the bug in bits (replacing the pan) I may as well get on with all the things I want to do - want to go down about 2 - 3 inches at the
front, keep the back stock (mainly cos the back wheels are only just in there, and I like the way they fill the guards)
it's a 69 beetle, 205/70/14's on the back and 195/70/14's on the front, and as soon as I get back from the UK in June it's going to be in bits all
over my garage!!
cheers
Terry

My other car is a scooter, and it's in even more bits than my beetle. One day they will both be back together.......

Looks great but can ride rough/bumpy, I'm going back to pre-low rider days on advice from my orthopaedic surgeon.

just remember when you lower the front the rear will actually raise ! So if you want the stock height at the rear you will also have to lower the rear
! make sense?

Get dropped spindles, that way you keep the same suspension travel (same length shock absorbers)

the advice that i was given was wait till the car is all back together so you know how it sits with everything in it.
I have lowered mine about 3 inches all round and the back is great but the front rubs slightly when i hit some bumps. I am now contemplating
narrowing the front and fitting drop spindles and adjusters. ATM i only have adjusters and it rides a little rough but handles like a go-cart.

cool
spose it would help if my wheels actually fitted INSIDE the rear guards! but I really like the way it looks
drop spindles sound like the way forward

dude i have 195'son the rear which make them fit really snug under the back.
they don't rub at all.
maybe if you just swap the tyres front to rear just to see how they fit.
then get some 195's for the rear.
