i've gone off the idea of moon disks mate.... with my 4-wheel disk brakes i think it would be a real shame not to show them off behind some nice alloys....

I went up there on the Wednesday for a look-they were held up for a couple of days-with water all over the surface from some serious rain the week before. The whole thing was awesome-out in the middle of 'nowhere',then suddenly this big salt lake thats about 200 mile long and 40 mile wide and as flat as billiard table. The area where the speed trials are held is quite large, but when you locate it on a map,it's just one pissy little corner of the whole thing. There was such a large assortment of different machines-it made the trip worthwile just to walk around the pits to check it all out. It's not a real good spectator sport, because you can only see them leave the start and disappear into the distance. We went to a spot about in the middle of the timing section, and were a long way from the track, but the noise of something going past doing 200MPH is a good look. Not often you will see Ford Falcons and Holdens doing in excess of 180 MPH anywhere. There were some Yanks there with some seriously quick motor bikes-the one that's the record holder(it looks like a bullet with little shopping trolley wheels) did a run late on the day,but somebody stuffed up and the chutes fell out just after he got going to the delight of the crowd.Well worth the trip if you ever get the chance.

another one of those 'do it before you die' things...

I have had the opportunity to go (spectate) several times, but always have been stuffed up...maybe next year

I'd love to do a VW to race...

OK, front end help.
What do you think of this setup?

Straight single beam front end with conventional spindles, trailing radius rods with twin inboard shocks on bellcranks. Twin motorcycle 4 spot disks brakes.
Advantages are light weight construction, low frontal area, low drag with inboard shocks.
With this setup will I need to run a panhard rod as well?
