supercharged 1641 or 1776?


hey. i am wondering what would be the better option both pricewise and performance wise. to build a supercharged 1641 with standard head.etc or to build a 1776 with new performance heads .etc. and what will the price difference be?.

i think either is going to cost you dollars, but some things to think about are a) you are up for the price of a new piston and cylinder set anyway so bigger is always better for performance, more ccs equals more power at less revolutions equals less work by motor equals longer life. 1776 will mean machine work on your case but you should probably get it cleaned and crack tested anyway so why not machined at the same time. 1776 will mean twin carbies which is probably about the same dollars as single and supercharger for 1641. 1776 is a proven performance combo used by many where as supercharged 1641 is a bit more exotic. wealth of info available on 1776 and a more straight forward approach i would think. if you want outright performance maybe you should consider 1916.

Why is it that the yanks who have exposure to some of the performance parts available and have been doing it for longer, never seem to use the 1916 combo

They Do......

Heaps of them use the 1916 combo.....
You have to remember that stroker cranks etc are cheap over there and the options available are far wider for $$$$$ spent.

You will find that they actually turbo alot of 1916cc engines, as it works out cheaper as they do not have do spend the money on the heads/crank/ carbs and the things do 12 second 1/4, which is not easy to achieve simply by going bigger.
Here is a pic of Jim's 1916...standard 044's 40x35 and 7.2:1 comp....does 12.05 for the 1/4 and pops wheelies.

from what i can see on sites such as the samba etc a lot of yanks take the 94 and stroke the crank as well giving bigger than 1916

Thas right craig , I had a 240 volt ac 316L stainless steel toilet on a boat * barge * . when we pulled the electrics down the loo there was no earth and all the wires we white ?

the fire was because the painter washed his rollers and brushes out then tiped the solvent down in the bowl . he then flushed the loo !!!!! 240 volt !!!power to the coil BANG ! big fire ! hee hee

It cost $3400.00 in repairs new $28000.00
I had to comision the loo before returning it to the customer , heehee

and they got to the moon first ! BULL SHIT

All you have to do is go to www. lowbugget.com

See the bolt on kit that A.J simms has for 1600's and copy the specs by just buying it here.
Also use a standard header with a single pipe straight to the turbo, a side draught 40mm dcoe and a t2 or a t3 depending on the AR #.

If you have a friend who does exhausts...it will be cheap, if you do not it still wont cost that much.
