Braided brake lines???

I need new flexible brake lines on the front of my 76 Bug and was thinking about going to braided brake lines.
Was wondering if anyone has done this to their VW and if anyone knows of any suppliers for these?

You can get it made up to suit what you want at Slacks Creek Brake and Clutch. Brisbane.

Make sure if you get some they are legal as I know some of the ones a couple of guys put on their hot rods turned out to be wrong. i do not know who they got them from but i know it was not from slacks creek as theirs are all legit.

Leagal ones will be tested and have a tag to prove it.
The shops that do it pay dearly to be certified (to make 'em that is) and will supply them with tags etc.

The street legal ones need to have ADR compliant sleeves at the junction of the fitting and the braided line (this allows it to pass the whip test) and the actual braided line has to have a nylon covering to stop dirt ingress into the braids which can cause failure.

the ones I got made at ENZED are stamped with a special punch they have on the fittings after they are made. and pressure tested to 3000psi which they did in front of me.

I was told by them that the yellow tags are there if they were made by someone who didn't have the special punch.

check out this website

Just spoke to Slacks Ck Brake and Clutch, made to suit, ADR approved, $88.00 each.
Thanks for the help.
By the way I think you'd be able to get legal ones in other states because you can get braided lines for motorbikes that are legal in all states.

Brake Line Replacement**

I wouldn't pay that much for brake hoses Andrew.....
and don't forget to check the rear ones too....
Lee

If they haven't been replaced before , which is unlikely
in later model beetles...
I would replace all 4 brake hoses....
normal unbraided ones are very inexpensive.....

If Brake Hoses have surface cracks in them, they need replacing even though they may not leak for a long time....
