Oil leaks, Is it serious????
One patch of oil on the ground now 2 have appeared, one of each side of the engine, and i think they are leaking out of the heads??? seems to be
coming from where they bolt on to the main part of the motor ( the centre of the motor ), i know nothing bout beetles so i dont even know if you would
call it a head but whatever it is, its leaking oil....
Cheers
My ex sent me pics of her in bed with her new boy........
I sent them to her dad......:P
Beetles rock!!!!

sounds like its either your conrod tubes or valve cover gasket.... niether are that bad if you keep an eye on your oil levels and its not leaking TOO
much... all VW's drip a bit of oil... if it doesn't drip oil, its not a real VW :P
edit - if its your valve cover gasket its a very easy 5 min job to repalce them..

Yes, push rod tubes seals are known to leak,
especially the later replacement ones...
Make sure You use Permatex or similar gasket cement on the seals so if the seals do crack again [and they will] the permatex or Gasket Goo will keep
them sealed...
Best to wash all under the engine with degreaser and hose off... then watch to see where the oil comes from...
as the wind under the car, really blows the oil everywhere...
If the tappet covers leak, it usually just drips onto the heater boxes...
You can get replacement Push Rod tubes, that You can install
without taking the heads off...
these are usually used until the engine is fixed properly later
there is the spring type and the screw on type....
so, that can make Your job easy...
best of luck
