Ratty paint job? (deliberate)
I'm starting to get some crazy ideas about paint for the bug. At the moment I'm entertaining the possibility of perhaps a lightish khaki, like the
fatiges you can get from army surplus places from the 70s conflicts (Vietnam etc).
note: only using that as a reference - don't mean any offence to anyone.
I'm thinking at the moment that I prefer the look of 'worn' paint over the hyper glossy look of most new paint jobs. Ideally I'd love a green that
appears worn in the logical places rather than an even overall finish. The hope is that this would make a nice contrast to selected items of bling
So is this idea completely stupid in terms of practicality, or is there a good chance it could be done without being hellishly expensive/time
intensive?nn[ Edited on 22-8-2005 by ruckus ] |

This is my FC van i sold about 12 months ago.
This was lime green with side windows when i bought it. All the paint and signage has been added.
I made a stencil then painted this on. Name is made from three different adds
from 1951 HotRod magazine.

Nice work. Do you think kit'd show up with the type of green I'm looking at? Is the best idea to have a lighter green underneath with a darker coat
that gets rubbed back on top? |

darker color underneather lighter colur on top if you use solids 4 both
you wont need to lcear it after you've sanded it back, thats on the assumption you sand through with a smoothish paper, like 1200 or 1500
