Stupid question of the week: removing beetle seats.

Ok so it's established I have no idea. How do you get the seats off the runners on a 70 standard bug?

not 100% sure because of the year, but if its the type that has two rails under the seat this should work.

slide the seat back, look down at the front of the slidder rail (tunnel side), there is a tab on the top of the rail, that sticks up at an angle, so as to catch the seat frame as its about to go off the end of said rail.

use a long screwdriver to hold this tab down as you slide the seat back over the top of it. once you get the tab started under the seat, your laughing

The return spring has to be unclipped also. I found on our standard that by taking the plastic floor vents out prevented the seat from scratching them on their way forward
