EJs and rear main seals

Has anyone had issues with their rear main seals? I think I'm about to replace mine again after only 5000 kays or so.

Do ej25 DOHC motors have issues with them?

how do I check if the crank is worn?

Just make sure the single lip seal has the helical on it and not just a plain lip. Check for crank lift at the rear main bearing.

No, I'll check that too when I pull it out. It can stay where it is for now though I think. I've got a khanacross coming up in a month, so I'll pull it after that.

Ej motors have the odd rear main leak like 1 in a 1000 when u do the rear main pull the gaugin pin cover plate off and reseal it with three bond anyway and possibly look at the O ring under the cover plate on the otherside. Dont wanna pull the engine out twice :)

Thanx for the tips boys. Had a decent look yesterday and there no oil on the back of the motor when you look up the hatch between the engine and gearbox. So it's not the rear main. HORAY! Must be coming from the rocker covers (and the gearbox is leaking a little too). This is the second or third time I've had to stop the rocker covers leaking. Any tips on this?
