my new engine
finally arrived today, although i had to go out to the depot cos they claimed it 'definitely wasnt in melbourne'.
just goes to show that persistance and a day off work pays off in the long run.
its a not so freshly rebuilt but never run (thanks brad) t4.
gonna make the ragtop project a torquey, driveable sleeper.
i think brad might have a taste for the f/i v6 drug that he helped wes get addicted too!
i think its all gonna be worth it in the end, but it has been an ordeal to get it to this stage (hey brad?)
just glad its finally arrived safe and sound....
... now to finish the car!:o

I am currently building my type IV - have you thought about trans compatibility - are you getting the bushing installed into the flywheel?
I have to cross that road soon....hope you have fun. I still have the full assembly ahead of me (using dual 40 dells and upright as well).

Sounds good that it has the upright kit and fan,
But that "bush in Flywheel " comment is a bit worrying.
Let us Know how it goes together.

Good move going Type4.What kit are you using for your fan shroud conversion? If it is Mikes from Sharpbuilt,he supplies a bronze press in bush-its
OK,but for a small cost you can buy the original Type 1 needle roller bearing and have your flywheel drilled to suit it.I have used a 215mm Type4
flywheel and it fits OK into a 12volt Type 1 transmission.I have used the trans with the support for the release bearing so pressure plates are easy
to get.Any 12volt VW starter will work with this flywheel.Good luck.

hmm
yeah, i will cross those bridges when i come to them.
i know about the options, but the car its going into is far from complete.
it will be having the spigot pressed in, and i dont really know how to do it all, but i m sure i will get the right advise.
i beleive that an 1800 flywheel will fit into my 1500 bellhousing.
cant wait to crank it up!
