Motorsport for 2008
2008 is going to be a bumper year for motorsport with a few new ideas. The 2008 NSW Hillclimb Championship calender is out with the following
events/dates:
Rd 1 - March 1 - The Esses Bathurst
Rd 2 - March 2 - Mountain Straight Bathurst
Rd 3 - April 13 - Fairburn Park Canberra
Rd 4 - June 8 - Mountainview Grafton
Rd 5 - August 3 - Ringwood Newcastle
Rd 6 - September 14 - Huntley Hill Dapto Woolongong
Rd 7 - October 5 - King Edward Park Newcastle
There is also the new Australian Hillclimb Super Series. This series takes in evens in NSW, VIC and SA (& possibly QLD) with the presentation of
awards at the Australian Championships in November. Prize money is up for grabs for series class winners. The first round of the National Series is at
Bathurst 1st March. As for the dates of the other events and the finer details I dont think they have been posted yet. Check out http://www.nationalhillclimbseries.com.
The Australian Hillclimb Championship will be run in NSW this year with Bathurst Light Car Club being the host on the 7th, 8th & 9th November at
The Essess - Bathurst.
I intend on running this years events. Greg Ward is also keen to bring his blue Beetle out of retirement and Stan is giving it a go in his now
supercharged open wheeler. The Imp Pro class already has a few contenders in the Hillclimb Championship including a few fast datson and escort
drivers, along with the VW's of the Torrens, Campbells, Duries, Flecks, Maymens and the like.
I will be updating you all through out the year as the events take place both on here and in VWMA.
You now have the years events in advance. I'm giving them a run. So who is going to join me?

King Edward Park is a surprise to me. I thought last year was THE last year for the venue.
Bring on Huntley in September. May was too cold, too dark, too much sun in the eyes. Plus also gives us 4 extra months to beg for sponsors. And
hopefully the event sponsor might even pay up this time!
