I sold the Fasty awhile back and couldnt let the wheels go, so put them on the Beetle. Shes happy with the car but wants it on the road yesterday. Maybe she will be able to drive it to Dubs by the Wherever in Feb 09, that will be a year since I started it.

Great job there and your daughter must be very happy. And above all, you got it ready for Dubs outing next week-end.

Congratulations and a great outcome for all your effort.

Kevin

I was planning on going to Dubs but still unsure if the engine is ready for that distance. I have only done 250 km around town. It seems to run fine but it was never reconditioned - just give it a tune up and a tidy up after it had been sitting for 3 years. Also it is only a 1200 not a 1500. I am going to drop in a 1600TP once more funds are available. I could trailer it down to Dubs but that defeats the purpose. Always next year.

What a sweet result. Nice work.
Did you work out how much it cost you all told? or is this a rude question? Just interested to know where it landed. Terry

Selling a nice little 1200 that has been getting me around for the last few months. Came across a 1600TP that was too good to leave. If interested, details on Parts for Sale.
I have never driven a Beetle with a 1600, is there much performance difference.

Hard to say exactly what it cost all up. I bought the car as an unfinished project but it had alot of new stuff with it - guards, carpet , headliner, mags, tyres, indicators, full rubbers, new discs and pads, full exhaust system, ect, ect- I think he said about $4000 in new parts. I have also thrown a few dollars at it - stopped counting at $3500, didnt want to know after that. As for time - dont get my wife started on that. I did all of the work myself except for the paint. I didnt plan to spend much on it, just got carried away. Basically almost everthing is new. The motor is the only thing I havent touched................yet.

thats how all good projects end up going, you end up with a much better finished product

dont worry i think all of us out of fear stop counting the cost fairly early in the piece
