Dumb question
This is probably a very dumb question.......so here goes!
With the 65 beetle when the heater knob is turned, should there be a stream of air out of the vent below rear seats.
Sorry, just trying to work out if it is working. I could not feel any flow of air.
I know dumb sorry, but the reason I ask is I didn't drive far, but the interior did appear warmer,

This is on my 68 and could be different, but one heater thingo opens the vents below te back seats, and the second opens the pass through on the heat
exchangers.

Mine just has a knob beside the brake lever, that is turned. Maybe there is another somewhere I can't find?
But thanks.

the 65 heater system has one knob only and provided u have heater boxes with fresh air tubes blowing air into them they may work depending on if
the heater cables are hook up correctly
you should get hot air out the front outlets below the 1/4 panel do u have the slider plates in there as well ??? if u close it will push hot air
out in corners of windscreen provided the air tubes are in place once again
the rear heater alos works on the same single knob and will be on all the time if the knob is turned theres one outlet on the pass side under the
rear seat lift seat to havea look and see if theres any small black cardboard tubes under there this feed hot air to both sides just behind the
front seats
the efficiency of the heater will depend on if all the tubes n cables are hooked up correctly

Just don't expect it to blow like a force 3 hurricane!
Like Dave said it depends on the condition of all the cardboard hoses/cable adjustment and the heater boxes themselves. The force of airflow also
depends on the engine revs... The higher the engine revs the more airflow.
Oh and if you're heater boxes are rusted out or leaking you'll get carbon monoxide in the cabin... You'll soon know if this is the case.
Cheers
Greg

I give the heater a try on the cruise saturday. I should be able to make a decision after driving for two hours if working or not.
I didn't find any slider plates.
Again thanks guys.

if u didnt find slider plates then i dont expet u will find and heater tubes under the back seat
any way u are better off removing the back seat heaters as u will find if the front are hooked up correctly u will b sweating with the heat
unless yr riding in the snow
get a bit of soft alloy and remove the rear tube and alloy outlet nozzle and screw a cover plate over the hole using a little silastic or sealant

for the people with 68 on bugs that have the 2 levers beside the handbrake, the drivers side one pulled up opens the heater boxes at the engine to let
heat into the car and the left one pulled up just opens the rear heater outlets, this warms the interior alot better
if you shut them and the front floor heaters all the heat goes to the windscreen vents
that is if your hoses and heaterchannels arent full of holes

From what I can see all appears to be ok. Hoses seem intact, but as you can tell, I am no expert.
