looking for 1800 heads in Melbourne

Hey all,

I am looking for a set of new 1800 heads for my 2.0lt type 4 bus. Can anyone point me in the right direction in regards to suppliers and cost in Melbourne? Has anyone bought 2.0lt heads and had bigger valves put in rather then changing to 1800 heads? is this cost effective?

Any help would be great

Cheers

I haven't had to buy heads in Melbourne so I can't help you there. However, I know that the 1800 and 2 l sell for pretty much the same price overseas. As you probably know the only new heads are made by AMC. The valves, springs, etc that they come with are supposed to be very ordinary and apparently have been known to fail in stock applications. That said I suspect my engine was rebuilt with the AMC heads as they came out of the box and it has lasted so far!

Thanks for the info,

I am under the impression from the mechanic that it seems to be you can only sometimes get new 1800 heads although 2.0lt heads are easily sourced. I am wanting the larger valve size so will wait if needed.

Cheers Derek
