Nice looking Golf. Strangely MK1s don't attract very high prices, especially 4 doors for some reason. A bit odd as they're cool cars and there's not too many of them in good condition left. (I probably paid too much for mine - much more than your asking price - but it is clean, original, low mileage.)

You could also try your luck over at http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/. There's plenty of MK1 admirers over there.

Good luck with the sale. :)

Do you think much work would need to be done to get a roadworthy certificate?

Also do you think the condition/reliability would be good enough to drive up to Brisbane?

OK I am very interested, I will just have to discuss it more with my partner. If I got the go-ahead, I could possibly fly down Wednesday morning to pickup (is the Ekka show holiday in Brisbane)...does something like that work for you? I will probably give you a call tomorrow to discuss more.

Unfortunately my partner put the brakes on my idea. Since the car is meant to a runabout car for her, she's decided to save for a later model car as she's worried it may become another project car (I've 2 already!). Sorry for the runaround and good luck with the sale (that is phenomenal value for a clean mk1).
