do away with the engine fan ? and filter placement
I've been looking into getting rid of the engine fan on my Type 1 aircooled and running a thermo fan that pushes 2100cfm through a custom made
ducting down from the top of the buggy to the motor and mold it around the cylinders and heads.
possible ?
also due to the lack of room at the back I cannot put the full flow filter pump cover on so I may have to have a filter in the line to the big remote
mounted oil cooler. is it safe to have it in this position ?

what the hell is in the road of a full flow outlet from the pump cover?
........be carefull with all this, it's the difference between your new motor going and exploding!

yea it could work or destroy the poor 2332cc ! so I will try and find someone else that has done it already for advice.
the rear chassis bar bolts to the bottom of the block and has a large bash plate that comes close to the oil pump cover then flares out for the crank
shaft pully. I didnt make it that way as its a rather stupid move ! may have to just modify the chassis a little

the buggy's current engines pretty filthy but here you can see where the plate cames around and theres not alot of room between the pulley and the
frame to run a hose without the risk of it rubbing. maybe a hard line ?

just so you know, my family has been in to offroading for the best part of 30 years............running a nudge bar off the engine spells disaster to
me, best to redo the rear bar work to the frame horns/torsion bar housings at least and run a full flow at the pump..........i think you could
clearence and do it with out reinventing the bar work anyways tho
you could drill and tap that pump cover and use any combination of fittings to get it ut of there..........seen outlets braised and then "ported"
into standard covers before....best get a berg pressure relief cover tho, saves blowing lines off when too keen with cold engne temps

whats the best way of holding the engine of I redesign the rear bar work ? as I'm welding in a IRS rear soon anyway so may as well do both at once

2100cfm is more than the VW fan puts out, so should work pretty well. You will have problems with it running too cold if anything.

yea I found that which is why I even considered it, as long as I can fiberglass a good enough shroud and rig up a good temp monitoring system so the
fan will come on when it needs it I should be right.
