Great vids Guy.
What were your times like - I know spotting times from watching video isn't real accurate, but looks like 65's and maybe even a 64 in there ???
btw - sounds like the track is going to get resurfaced in late October... won't it be nice without all those bumps under the bridge !!!

Ok,,, cool as,,, but can i give you some tips???
You will REALLY need to get out real wide in the middle of the Carousel,,, you`re sort of hugging the inside line heaps & you seriously need to be
out wide hugging the outside line ,right at the middle of that section,,, when you try it the first time it might seem a little scarey, but just go a
bit slower first & then slowly build in confidence & pick your speed up keeping the same line,,, you`ll see a "Dramatic" improvment in your
times if you take the right line in this section,,, it`s really an amazing difference,,, the reason why is quite simple & "IF" you take the
corner this way your terminal speed through the whole next section is just "WAY" faster & you`ll be going under the bridge & into Hungry
corner SOoooo much faster
hope you don`t think i`m a Know it all smart arse,,, it`s just that ive done mega years of Lakeside in various cars & once you have that outside
line sorted & you`re comfortable with it, you will find that just about any line going into that corner will be fine, providing you manouver or
slide to a point "Right in the guts of both corners (cause it`s 2 seperate corners in reality) so if you can get to the outside of the track in the
middle there, then your exit line is way easier & way faster
don`t be scared next time,,, give it a go slow to start with & build your speed each lap trying to maintain that line, even doing it slow you
should find your lap times hav improved
anyways,,, good on ya & i wish i was out there,,, i was actually going to be there with my Duel cab ...untill my dog was diagnosed with cancer of
the eye & had the opperation on the friday so i had to baby sit him all weekend :-(

Great vids!
I noticed the mention of a peloquin LSD. Just wondering if you could give some feedback on the item and if there was any reason why you went for the
peloquin over something like the quaife?

Hey Sides,
thanks - the best I got down to was high 62's - that was the first time there in the Golf.
Last time I was there in 1998 in a MKIV GTI, I crashed heavilly inside at the carousel - so I was taking it pretty easy.
I have been in the low 62's in the Porsche Cayman S, so thats a pretty good time for the GTI.
We were hitting almost 220kmph before the kink in the main straight, thats 10kmph faster than the Cayman, and I had a bit of time holding it on the
track there.
Thanks Mini Man - I understand, you must remember that in these rallies you only get a couple of laps total, we had one warm up lap, two or three
flying laps & half a cool down lap, and in this case, the Golf had never been around there before. We were also running the Pirelli Corsa mediums
this time & they didn't even get feel in them until ~ lap 3. to date, we have only done ~ 14 laps in the GTI there.To be honest, I had the ESP
switched on , but the only place it cut throttle was the hill up after Hungry ( you can hear it dump boost on the video).
I could also run a much stiffer spring rate / compression in the front here, the car was quite unbalanced under the heavy braking sections, where at
QR or Morgan park on the smoother / level surface, its not a problem! I know what you are saying about those points though - thanks for the tips!
Cam, Peloquin - easy to get & a few months ago - way cheaper than quaife - I have a quaife in the Cayman, and its excellent as well - both are
great! There would be no substitute for a drexler if it was a track only car, but its a bit hard to justify ~ 8k USD for what we do. You do get some
grip / slip / grip on long, tightening corners, but its easy to manage.
I'll get some Morgan Park video's up soon & you can see it happening there.

Hey Mini Man - yep - heaps of grunt (a bit too much sometimes!) - its taken us a while to get the chassis sorted to be able to put most of it to the
ground, but on somewhere with some good size straights, it gets to use some of its top end!

ha ha,,, there`s never enough grunt Guy,,, the problem is more usually --> "never enough traction" :-) very very well done tho man, 62s around
lakeside in a road car is pretty impressive really... & obviously even better times to come with those line changes yeah??? :-) As soon as i`ve
sorted the gearbox dramas with my kombi i`ll come & give you a hurry along ok? :-) :-) :-) (ok maybe not a hurry alog , but at least you can have
a giggle when you lap me :-) )
