Speedometer cable removal.

I have a 1968 beetle and I am trying to get the body of the chassis. However, I am having a little trouble removing the speedo cable. Could someone please let me know how to disconnect it from both the body and the wheel.

Thank you in advance.

There is a very small circlip on the hub: it's on the outside of the grease cap. Remove this and give the end of the cable a light tap to dislodge it from the small square hole it's in. The cable should then easily pull out from the rear of the stub axle

Thank you very much. I shall give it a go tomorrow (which is actually today). Just finally got some time to attack the major job of stripping the beetle in preparation for paint stripping and rust repair.
