Bay window Subaru Conversion
Basically looking for info on non turbo subaru conversions for my bay. What's involved, is it worth it, getting engineered in QLD, radiator
locations, estimated diy cost, problems and advice etc.?
Any help would be appreciated.

Mine is on the kombiclub forum under the surf and swoosh project. Mine's turbo but there is quite a few pictures that will give you an idea of the
work involved in making everything.
CCOR radiator looks like a hell of a lot less work.

Since the last edit I have converted the radiator pipes to stainless and remade the radiator scoop to house a alloy WRX radiator and AC condensor.

You can look up philbertthekombi as well or my other name. Should be able to find the one that I have done. You can get a whole kombi and conversion
with engineers plate from me for $8K  (shamless plug). But there is also
heaps of info from the british sites with lots of good ideas. If you have any specific questions shot an e-mail of.

Hi there,
if you do most of the work yourself you will get not much change out of 10k. If you have the money spare, go right ahead, just remember to keep some
money for the running cost. Insurance will kill you otherwise.

where you pulling that figure from? the professionals dont even charge that much?
Is it worth it? in a kombi, shit yeah
it can be done to a bay with no body mods so can always be reverted back to stock easy as, type4 engines are ridiculously expensive and the subi
engine will have triple the life span, get better economy and make it a pleasure to drive rather than a chore

Well said Joel. I would say doing it all yourself including Engineers report and compliance is going to be at least $6000.

I have just gotten a revaluation on our bus for $20K value. Consider our bus has full custom paint with pearl and flame job. The interior is all new
professional. Subaru conversion fully engineered, mag wheels, lowered beam also engineered, all mechanicals, gearbox, brakes, balljoints, driveshafts
new, plus much more.
If you cant turn a spanner yourself, you would spend $40K to get our bus built to the show standard it is.
Insurance = $118 per year with LSV fully comprehensive for $20K value.
You cant get third party on a 1985 Ford Laser for that.
