Another important thing to look at,
no matter what type of front suspension you use,
is that the steering axis still coincides with the tyre contact patch.
This is more common on supers because wider wheels
with the correct offset would normally touch on the springs.
When the contact patch of the tyre is too far away
from the steering axis "projected point", it does as you describe.
Of course all the advice regarding the
correct geometry and
good condition of ALL parts is very important too.
All to often, people will say, "its all perfect",
when in actual fact there are still some worn parts,
or stuff that was "just replaced" that is actually many years/miles old.

Dont believe this would apply as I am running 6" rims with 40ET with thin spring struts
Tyre centre is same as before

Supers only get a bad name because people just don't know how to fix shimmys and just put up with it.
It's not that hard to get rid of them, I've got topline urethane bushings in mine and havent had shimmy problems in years
The fact I can drive at 170km/h with one hand holding the camera reinforces they're safe and stable at high speeds.
With all the supers I've owned and worked on over the years I can safely say 9 times out of 10 its the rims that cause shimmys
Mine hasnt had any for years but I bet I could make it wobble worse than granny titties by bolting on the hotwires under the house.
14" rims are the worst for causing shimmys.
