1974 Steering column
Hi all,
Does anyone know what sort of steering column(the bit that holds the lock assembly with the shaft going through it and a bearing) and steering lock
(the switch and Barrel holder) was used for the 1974 supers? part numbers would be great. looking on the net it appears (in US anyway) that the little
column bit referred to earlier was changed halfway through the year I wondered if this applied to Australian sold bugs?
Cheers

cheers for the reply.
This is the setup I have. column no. 113 905 851A. I also have an ignition barrel and switch holder no. 111 905 851N but I dont think these go
together? so I need either an earlier column to match my keyed barrel or a barrel to match my column.

mmm you have some part mixing and matching going on there
Have a read of this may help make it abit clearer, but no they dont go together.

the barrel from the early housing can be fitted to the later one but you need the correct switch part.
I'll have a dig around next time I'm in town, I'm sure I have a few in storage.

thanks for this Joel,
I read you how to,post and got the barrel in the column as you say tho bit different switch.
wouldn't happen to know where I can get the little steering wheel end bush that goes between the bearing and shaft. Preferably in Aus because
Wolfsburg West and other US companies want abt. $40 postage for the tiny part? |

Places like Mick Motors should sell them.
In the later cars they were only plastic and disintegrate.
I kept the metal one from my 71 super cos I was sick of the plastic ones falling apart.
