I'm not sure whether they were the same ones as used on
Australian early type 3s..

clear round bullet lens with a base to fit the body...

You just need to shape the base to fit the beetle....

this looks like an imported type 3 with Large over riders and amber lenses.

cheers

Just looking at the AVD pic at the top of the page here...

and they do look more pointed and the base is longer..

2nd hand ones would be easy to find in the USA....

I put a set on my 60 model, it has fibreglass guards, i bought a repro set from the states, you should also purchase the backing plate that fits on the inside of the mudguard

I do know the lights themselves are the same as on 60-61 Kombis
in Australia... and overseas...
and are different to type 3s.. [strange but true.. lol]

Beetles had those in the USA in 1957...

the USA red tail lamps blinked... illegal in Australia...

although the 1956 FE holden special had red rear blinkers...
the stop lamp actually blinks on one side...
so, they only had one stop lamp... lol

LEE

blinkers in front of the headlamps are illegal in the eyes of some Mechanics... NSW blue slips.. and maybe police??
they are also very hard to see...

I have a pair of the Kombi ones as well, NOS, that I am going to put on for as part of my '54 Oval resto with orange globes... soon. I am sure the Kombi indicators were used in the US on Beetles. As per my thread on positioning of heart shaped tail lights, does anyone know the 'official' positioning of these bullet indicators on the front guards i.e. measurements? Cheers, Craig
