country buggy dimensions


hey guys was just wondering if someone could give me a few measurements (doesnt have to be EXACT), just need a rough measurement of length, width and depth...

plan to be picking one up in 2 halves and wanna know if it will fit in my ute without hanging over the tray

Well, it's the same size as a Beetle mate. Same wheelbase anyway, and the overhangs are roughly similar.

bill, do you think its weird that VW always use metric measurement, yet this drawing the dimentions are all imperial first and foremost.

just a thought.

A simplistic explanation might be that the CB (body) was designed in Australia when imperial measurements were the norm, prior to the metrication (or metrification) of Australia which took place between 1970 and 1988.

I think Steve hit it on the head.

In reading the sketch I now see that the front track of the CB is 16mm wider than the rear track. Now that really surprises me as but I see early Beetles had a wider front track as well.

The early 1500s had a front track of 51.6in and a rear track of 53 in more like what I had expected.

well it fitted in the tray just fine as it was cut in half :cool: its missing the K.O number as its been butchered but perfect for what i wanna do with it.... but that will be after my oval is finished :rolleyes:
