12v fun!

So... my 59 beetle has been converted to 12 volt, but I cant find any headlight globes to suit...

what are people doing in this case? Who are they buying from to replace the 6v globes?

Cheers

PS: You can buy them New ONLY from a vintage car bulb specialist.. I can't remember where He is or His name sorry.

What sort of base is on the globes, are they p43t,round with a locator or are the real early globes with a baynot on each side. I should have a couple of the p43t globes in halogen. Let me know

Most early 6 volt cars used the BA20D bulbs like this

IIRC, the Ba 20's are only very early, I think pre '55, and most have been converted from them anyway as the bulbs have been rare for years.
Then came the P45t which is in the majority of air cooled VW's, the P43t is the later QH style in late bays and replacement H4 conversions etc.

All but the BA20 are readily available, I get German quality from Wurth and am happy to order some if anyone wants some.

Do correct me if I'm wrong

Thanks for your help guys!

I got ahold of a gentleman here in SA that makes bulbs to suit. On his shelf were BA20 base bulbs to suit my car. If anyone needs 12v or 6v globes for their cars, this is the man to talk to http://www.classicandvintagebulbs.com/

Picked them up half an hour ago, will fit them when im at the workshop next! Top notch quality too
