Auto trans info
Does anyone know of any online resources with useful info about the Type 3 automatic transmission?
All the manuals I have say 'DONT TOUCH ANYTHING EVER'.
I've put some new carbs on and the gear change doesn't work properly, obviously the vacuum signature is different and I have no idea how to adjust
anything.
Any tips?
Cheers,
Eden.

i think u need to adjust the vacuum modulator where the vacuum line goes onto the side of the box
theres a fine hex adjusting screw inside the vaccum port from memory screw in makes the change longer and screw out makes it quicker
the Haynes brown manual is pretty good on the auto contents
do u still have the origional vacuum line between the manifolds in place

Yeah I still have the vacuum line, but as the weber manifolds are different I've had to make a new one up out of hose, not metal, but I don't think
the vacuum level is high enough for the hose to distort in any way. You don't happen to know which adjuster it is do you? I think there are three on
the side of the trans - my gut says the one closest to the vacuum port is the correct one but not sure.
My Haynes was kinda useless in the auto department.

no its the round module that screws into the gearbox
the other adjusters are for the bands
this has the vacuum hose going to it pull the hose of the module and u will see the hex head adjusting screw
