CSP exhaust/ vintage speed + Webber carbs

Hi peeps, Can anyone tell me if these systems (links below) are of good quality and worth the coin?.. or is there something in Aus that would be of the same value off the shelf. This will be bolted to either a 1835 or 1915 donk.

Is it a hard road (costly) to go down to have an exhaust system made up?

thanks

from all reports on this exhaust they are HIGH quality, made in germany and produce power.

There are some Youtube vids on these if you wanted to hear the sound

I looked at these when they came out whilst in Europe and they are top systems, nothing from CSP is bad.

Probably better to buy off the shelf than have one made it would be less trouble for sure, but then again you get exactly what you want.

If it's for your bus, I'd also look at Vintage Speed. Boris at VVDS has them, cheaper too I think.

Chinlee version of the quality A-1 Sidewinder, OK for a budget system.

It is different to the one on my car, it just shows how over priced the other ones are in comparison, the welding on mine is first class and the fit was great, it might be a copy but it would probably perform the same.

^^^^^^^^ ...... so I'm sitting on the fence with purchasing either a sidewinder or the Vintage speed gear, but I'm leaning towards the vintage gear. Is it down to flipping a coin

thanks for the posts guys.

EDIT.... instead of starting a new thread... can you smart guys tell me if this kind of set up is going to be adequate for a S/C with a 1835. I want a lil bit o torque there when needed but also this will be my daily driver to work and a few runs up n down the coast on weekends.

Vintage speed http://store.vintagespeed.com.tw/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flyp...

plus single webber 40 IDF
http://www.scatvw.com/master/carb_kits/

plus 1835 http://www.scatvw.com/master/long_block/

Is this going overboard for a SC ute?.... I want a lil punch but I'm not a speed demon........ you know what I mean Mr Berry.

OK - my opinion, but it aint my bus and I know nuffin

Stayaway from an 1835
They are a "slip in" cylinder.
You can get "machine in" but I would be real surprised if this was one of those.
Too many peoples suffer blow by from the thinner walled cylinders.
Either 1776 or 1916

Stay away from a single IDF
I just reckon they are a pig to jet
mmmm.......... Progresives
Personally I like em (ish) but I would rather go for a set of dual dellorto

Have used Vintagespeed and you cannot beat the quality.
Always used Berg shifters till I helped fit a mamba from Vintagespeed into a car and I would build another car just to fit one of their shifters they are that good.
I think classic are selling Vintagespeed copy exhausts and have heard they are not a patch on the originals, you get what you pay for

in regards to the single i highly recommend you read this forum first. its about progressives but the some of the same rules apply to the single IDF

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=386388&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=idf&start=0

in short for a centre mount you need the following:
- preheating of the intake manifold (preferably right to the carb base)
- heatrisers that flow thru (like the stock exhaust) as opposed to just pulsing back and forth (like most aftermarket exhausts)

interested to hear how the vintagespeed exhaust goes if you get it. they look good! good luck with it!

thanks for the info fellas, I appreciate it. I should clarify that I finally narrowed the cc down to either a 1641 or 1776, not an 1835 at all (I was on drugs when I typed that, been looking at too many sizes)

Did more research today and more reading, I think this will do me.....doing my head in

binner,

have you checked the postage cost from CB performance yet, I know from experience they are F'n expensive. Sorry, but I cancelled my order when they told me shipping costs.

Also the vintagespeed exhaust you mentioned can be bought here as at vintage vee dub (also mentioned above).

Lucky you:!: At one stage I got a price on the hideaway turbo exhaust for a beetle and the postage was just as much as the part :no: is what I said.

How did you get on with the scat engine kit? I am considering the 1776 one for a build I am about to start.

Has anyone else got experience with the SCAT volkspower kits?
