It's time..
An out it came
Then in it goes
Mounted all up an visually aligned the wheels.
Test drive was ok, tyres are hard up on the buckets so will sort out the ride height, readjust the tierods, an fine tune the rest!!
Little difference

Wasn't yelling 4got to change the case
So the Judson Oiler was blocked with a hair ball must keep an eye on mine
Have you changed the split case gearbox for the later tunnel type why did you fit a new nose cone ?? do you have the wrap around front mount on
that chassis

it rides ok, need to still dial it in to what i like so hopefully have it done by the wknd.
i knew u wernt yelling.. little joke.
the box was swapped to a 1500 box, the nosecone originally isnt a dougnut style but the later style, but because of the difference in where the cone
sits from split to non split, the nosecone gets replaced with a bus cone to keep the box level and help with gear selection. i did a lot of research
before i pulled it so i knew exactly what i needed to do the swap without having to wait for parts,

adjusted the arms for a better ride and fine tuned the height, miss the buckets now unless i go to a smart car tyre..
just need to adjust tie rods and a wheel alignment..
finally its nearly.... "finished"

Very nice car!
Excuse my ignorance but how do you 'adjust the arms for a better ride'?

thanks Joel,
since its a 6" beam it has no shocks so to make it ride a bit better ive set the arms at a greater distance away from eachother so there is more
tension on the leaves.
the bottom one has been pulled down as far as i could then lowered the car down so i could get the tension on it and adjusted the top to get the
desired ride height making it stiffer in the front.
make sense to you?

Perfect sense. I thought about doing the same on my 56 (4" with shocks) but thought maybe the net result would be the same. I guess my first thought
was on the money. Make much of a difference?

i did it with the 4.5" i had in there too,
made a difference with the 6" rides better now.
the steering box will come out now, ill remake another quick steer for a different pitman arm to put the old steering box back in, it had no play an
was perfect

Love the build up. Can't believe your misfortune when it comes to dinging panels on the old girl though...
Very sweet ride!

Bored with all the cars looking the same "slammed on earlies" or with those yuk widened rims. So change is as good as a holiday they say.

Looks great on the move, looks tough.
I was scratching my head - Where did this high riding Bug come from? When I waved on Joyce Street on the school pickup run.
