Differences in Type 3 Handbrake Cables?

Are there any differences in handbrake cables between early and late Type 3's? I have an old set and a new set, and they are the same overall length (well seem to be) but the outer sleeves are different lengths. The old ones (off a late Type 3 are longer). Are they interchangeable? Cheers, Paul.
