if you have original German heads then I'd get them reconned as the Brazilian ones are hit and miss as to whether they will last well and not crack between the valve seats.

They are far more prone to this than german heads.

I got my heads reconned for $450 at a shop in Geebung, Brisbane. Found them in the yellow pages. He woulda charged me $650 but felt bad charging so much for a pair of old Beetle heads. Anyhow, even $650 reconned with new guides, valves and studs is better than roulette with some brazilian heads at $305 a pop :)

I'd recommend Swift Race Engines. They did do a lot of VW, now under new ownership, but new owner using all the same equipment and ethics. Ph 3277 9792

Just checked on google maps and it was Northside cylinder heads that did mine. I couldn't fault their workmanship and the exhaust studs were in there like a bitch which took them a lot of effort to remove and replace.

Looks like you have 2 places to choose from that actually do good work these days :)
