 Ideas for a circuit car

I am thinking off biulding a roundy roundy car.beau and I are going halves . I supply engine and materials. He's got the suspension and Cdi and
throttle bodies the for injection.
Late model . Maybe 75 ish, German look .
Anyone got any cool pics or ideas .
What box . Ratios . Engine sizes.?for what classes.
What can you do or not do to suspension .
I want to do it as cheap as possible and have some fun.well that's the idea .
Don't know how cheap it will end up being but I'm Gona give it a go anyway.

it really depends on what type of events you want to enter. Sprints, autocrosses, motorkhana's or hillclimbs. Do you door to door or just sprints?

From my understanding most classes are divided at the 2L mark, so you need to decide if you want to go under or over this capacity.
From there, most sanctioned events (sprints and hillclimbs) you can run in Improved Production or sports sedans. Sports sedans give you allot more
freedom, most of the guys on this forum ar Imp Prod cars. Other events such as autocrosses and similar are normally based pureley on capacity or wheel
base.

75, are you talking late super or back to the ball joint front?

For allot of the basic calsses all you need is a safe car and a fire extingisher.

I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

Late super . Rack and pinion. I think .
Maybe sport sedan. Not real sure on all the rules .
I guess a good read of the rules for different classes will be a good start .

I think late super with rack and pinion will be hard to come buy. More likely to get a 1303 with a steering box.

Also best bet is talk to the club you want to race in. I think most people run 1600 to 2L imp production here. The rules for that are simialr for PRC
in rally and also the middle level of modification for targa.

I'm no expert but have been racing for a few years now so here we go

I run a 1916 that needs to rev , I'd say power between 5-8000, with this u need a tight box to make it work and with a circuit box you will need a
tall first to move the stack up so you don't run out of revs in top but if it's a rever it does not have to be as long as if it only revs to 6000 or
so, but then the big first sucks for " unless u have torque".. I have gone from 3.88 to 4.125 and now 4.375 but our circuits here in west oz lack
the straights like over east so I should use all of 4th now.

I know in the past there has been a non stroker stroker debate, either way they both haul ass... Whatch rene's footage u might be sold to a big
stroker. But high revs = tighter box to keep it on the money!!!!!!

As for tyres the yoky ao50's are the go.

Don't think u can go wrong with bj or struts they both worg great. As for adjustable sway bars you will have to make your own.shocks u can get from
eshocks.com.

The rules I think are basic, steel car, stripped, race seat, cams cage you can't go wrong. Not sure on sports sedan but I'm assuming plastic this
plastic that and slicks. The class I run u can have plastic but no slicks I think.

Cheers fabo

Sports sedan for you dudes ! This will allow you loads of feedom so you can fabricate the crap out of it.

Dont waste your money on more VW driveline, just stick a subaru motor and box in it and get out there........you know how cheap these things are for

cheers guys.
i need the imput, still not sure which way to go.
i don't know daimo,i hear the benefits,but i have sooo--much vw stuff lying around.
and to me a rexy engine is the easy way.if i went rexy(suby),i would go mid mount with all the trimmings of a pure bread race car,but i won't be able
to race in many classes i don't think.
as good old henry say's ,use the kiss method.
for those that don't know henry or the saying.keep it simple stupid, well thats my version anyway.

Sports Sedan under 2 litre for you Westi. Cut cut cut.....

Imp Prod you can't have cage through dash/front firewall to front end. There is some VERY tough competition that may be off-putting.

Any class will be fun, just get into it, I'm sure you'd build something inspirational.

build it for Super Sprints they are the most common events

probally 2 a month you can compete in and besides you wont have enough time to do more events, also some of the V8 guys really get Ped of when a
VW goes past them

of course Lightness is the key for a good track car have a look at Gregs car ( happydaze )

If you found a 72 or earlier super bug you could run in Class Nc historics. You'd be able to run a 1641cc engine. It would also be cost effective as
there aren't drastic changes permitted. You'd just have to work hard to get up on the minis' and datsuns.....

Definitely not the fastest option though

Anyhows, sports sedan, delete torsions with some custom trailing arms and coil overs tied to cage would be a days work for westside.... Big brakes
another day....a front end like the junka would be a nice weeks work westi !
