kombi heaters

hi ive got a 73 dc kombi thats had a 1600 sp engine fitted and would like to know whats missing to connect the heater cables to the heater boxes. the linkages are for a beetle and come out at the bottom but on the kombi it needs to connect up at the top ive bent up some flat steel and tacked it onto the short levers and they work but you cannot get them to fully open due to not enough leverage any info would be great tanks

If you get the original cables and fittings it will work.

Is there any way you can spin the top bit of the heater boxes? Do they have a join close by. Or can they be swapped left and right to do this.

Our bus had an 1800, so the heater setup was a bit different.

does your kombi have the original separate caps with the lever mechanisms at the end of the big plastic air-tubes
or are you trying to connect to standard heater boxes...73/4 kombis have these caps ca 4" cube with lever in them that seem to extent the heater boxes on the engine and could sort it.
I have some if you need .
pics if u email me your email
