Procar seats by Scat - any good ?

Hey guys, starting to look around for a pair of front seats, as the car I have had a crappy pair of jap import seats crudely bolted to flat bar tabs on the floor pan.....scary.

Anyway, I have seen a few places selling the scat procar seats as a direct replacement and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them ?

The pro 90 seat looks like roughly what I am after, I am just wondering whether they use a seat mount that adapts to the original vw rails or if it is a stand alone thing that bolts to the floorpan ?

Also (dare I ask) does anyone know if they legal to use in WA on the road ? No idea what the regs are now days.

Thanks in advance peeps !!!

Doug
Are you talking low back or high back?
I see Vollks has them for just over a grand? I assume that is for 2 which is pretty good value for no modifications.

There is definitely a benefit in having the 2 rail system

I still like Recaro and you can do them for under a grand in your car

Really ? Would have thought recaros were more exxy than that..... I'd go recaros for the same price absolutely.

What are the legalities of aftermarket seats ? I need to get the car over the pits as its unregistered currently and I don't have a pair of stock seats to rego it with.....

I have them in the wifes '70 Beetle in the form of low backs. The frame adaptor has 3x height settings and the base adaptor sits inside the factory runners. Mounting bolts run horizintally through the holes located under the runners.

Suggest you look at the WA Gov regs re seat replacement. In Vic, if the car is manufactured before Jan 1st, 1969, you can replace seats without an engineers approval so long as the seat anchorages are of at least equivalent strength to the original anchorages. Even though I have a '68, I still had my custom seat mounts checked by a VASS engineer
Cheers......Wayne

It varies from state to state, I'm in QLD and have SAAS racing buckets, I had to get a modification plate for the seats before it could be roadworthied.

Hi Snitz,

Have you got any pictures of the frame mounting to the seat runners?

I have seen a Scat video on YouTube, but it's a rushed "doco" - I couldn't quite see how the side bolts mount the seat frame to the rails.

Thanks, Bryce

The front two seat base adaptor tabs sit on front of the runner plate and bolt through the front of the runner plate.

The rear to "L" shaped tabs of the seat adaptor frame sit inside the factory runner tracks and bolt through the side of the runners.

Snitz,

Thanks for the pictures.

Looking at the last picture, I understand how the frame fits.

Thanks,
Bryce
