Breather Box

How important is a breather box on a 1600 mildly tuned engine?

Or should I just vent into the air filters?

A baffled plate in the alternator stand is a good idea to help remove oil vapour from the crankcase vapour. Then ducting into the air filters means they won't get so mucky from the oil vapour.

A lot of crankcase pressure can mean a worn engine so for a mild 1600 IMO the breather isn't needed if the engine is in good condition.

Thanks, in the process of purchasing all the necessary bits to rebuild the engine.

Easier to include it in the order than pay freight later.

These little breather boxes are good for small engines... I've had good results with them but you must use at least 1/2" hose.

Thanks also, any suggestions are more than welcome.

The engine upgrade will still be a stock 1600 size, but better components and balanced, hopefully.

Better off having a bit of pipe welded to the covers as those bolt on spigots leak like crazy after a few years.
