Thanks guys,
& just a side note as most of you probably didn`t know him that well , but he did time as main mechanic at "Auto Center" for Hank Cable as a
VeeDub specialist "Before" he saw the light & got into minis :-)
he was also a member of the Precision driving team through Veedubs,,, then Holdens ,,, nearly all of them used to practise with a big tri-pod mounted
to the side of the cars with a big caster wheel on the end for the "Just in case you tip it over" type of thing--> driving on 2 wheels around our
house at seven hills,
so there was a very very early love for the dub well before the mini
cheers
& if anyone can get onto Ian Gabby Marshall (speedway) LLoyd Robinson (Holden Precision Driving team) Mal Brien, Rod Hyslop, Peter Sodencamp,
Terry Whan,,, all ex employees & friends of dad, i`d love to let them know about the funeral .
cheers & thanks again.
Matt

Hi Matt,
Condolences to you and the family.
Just trying to work out if your dad was the Jack I knew many years ago. I was an army apprentice at Bulimba Barracks in '83 & '84. I used to
play squash with Jack for the Morningside Squash club. He ran a Mini workshop up at Morningside / Cannon Hill. We used to chat about Cooper S Minis
all the time and my wish to own one (which I eventually did a few years later). He was such a wealth of knowledge and a real cool guy.

Hi Matt, I'm very sorry for your loss mate. The stories you have shared with me over the years about your father have made me feel like I knew him.
He was a certainly a pioneer in his field and his many skills have rubbed off onto you in so many ways, driving working on and modifying those funny
little cars in an extreme way and ahead of the field...carry on the Read tradition buddy.
I would love to come on Friday to share in the celebration of his life and to support you and your family but unfortunately I'm away in Tassie until
the following weekend.
My condolences to you, Marly and your family mate.
RIP Jack Read.
To Willie, that's da man....
