Adding a little more power.
New to this, but just bought mechanically fully restored 1600 superbug,
1975 L, if I change from standard points to electronic and also if I change the exhaust to Vintage Speed ?????
will I get a bit more power and will I notice it ?
Thanks

On a stock 1600 the advantage of electronic ignition is more to do with one less maintenance item rather than outright performance, and the vintage
speed exhaust may add a pony or two, but the most noticeable change will simply be the exhaust tone.

would you agree the economy will improve also up to 10%
unless you want to increase main carbie jet slightly or use twin carbs also for ponies...

Thanks again for the info, just got it back from the painters 4 days ago, today picked it from the upholsterers.......much much quieter..
I ripped all the interior out, which was not that perished, then black anti rust epoxy.....then the US called it Dynamatted most of the interior,
except for headlining which just had the original glue spots coming out, I had the painter respray the head lining in Antique USA, sought off
whitecolour, with the exterior in original VW Dulux white.
Over this weekend, attaching the chrome trim, bought a ready made rear parcel shelf, and I have one of the last ones that I know of Dash Replacement
Covers, that I have to professionally stick on somehow....SIKA FLEX or something like silicon ?????? And look for a stereo and alloys....I have 15
inch chrome wheels with great tyres but alas I like alloy.
Thanks for reading. |
