Cut a 69 beetle
My daughter wants her 69 beetle to be a convertible. Can anyone suggest anyone in Tassie that will do this? What cost would we be looking at.

Only paid $700 for the one we got so are happy to spend money on it. Goes really well just needs a paint job.

Man your better off leaving it as it is. Most places wouldn't have a clue as to what needs to be done as far as bracing is concerned (structural
strengthing) Then you have to get an engineers certificate for the mods, and the bloody things are prone to leak's and draught's, slashing
buy theives and punk kids!
I'm not against convertable's, my friend has a wonderful 61 Karman Beetle. But it is only taken out on club runs and shows, and the Karman
workmanship is far superior to almost anything you can get done in a body shop.

yeah, the spend early MX-5 money on chassis reinforcing, reinforcing the A pillars, bogging up the quarter tops, getting the wind-down glass to fit,
engineers certificates - and you duaghter will whinge in winter coz it's too cold, daddy...

If you buy one that is already registered as a tourer, even if it is rough and tatty you will save quite a bit of money as it will not need an
engineers report. You can then change the body keeping the pan and you will be able to do it really neatly your own way, following the way the other
one was done.

dont chop it .Someday someone will restore it but they wont if its been chopped. Buy an already chopped one as previously suggested. Leave this little
bug alone and dont molest it.
