...Pivotal Moments with Mr. Plod...
Oh no.
Handed in my last assignment (resubmission) for my Double Degree this afternoon. Took the boys along to savor the moment and was generally enjoying
the freedom of no more university for a while.
Strapped in the kids, traveled less than 100 meters and Mr. Plod pulled me over to check my licence and inform me that in NSW you cannot do U turns at
Traffic lights, even with a green arrow to do so.
But he wasn't interest in that. He was more interested in my licence as it was my 29th birthday on the 10th and being the 15th I had been
unlicenced for the last 4 days. I hate that sinking feeling and that god awful taste in my mouth when you realise you are really in the shit but just
didn't know it.
See in Qld you can do U turns unless it's posted you can't. But even there you have to have a valid licence. So guess what I'm doing
tomorrow morning. Getting my licence renewed at my friendly RTA shop.
End result - No U-turn infringement but the unlicenced driving adds up to $351.
Ouch! This won't look good on my police application even though I have an unblemished driving record. Bugger.

What a bummer!!
Guess you're not going to do another U nturn in a hurry
I used to find the back in angle parking in some parts of NSW strange. Hate all the one way streets in Sydney but manage after studying the map and
trying to memorise where I have to go to get where I want.
What did the boys think of it? I can see a little person in the back seat of the first pic. Cute
Hope you get great results at uni to make up for the bad day:thumb |

Are you sure you're allowed to do U-turns anywhere you like in QLD? I originally got my licence in Melbourne, and as I recall the law was you
cannot do a u-turn within 50m of an intersection. I think it's the same here, but the favourite way to do a U-turn in WA is at a T-intersection!
I don't think I've ever seen anyone else do a 3-point turn in the approx 15 years I've lived here!

I've had lots of run ins with the boys in blue...
My cars seem to attract em wheter i drive like a granny or not....
One copper went around my car 3 times, kicking myc ar and all. And when i asked him to please not kick my car - especially the fiberglass parts he got
all huffy...
He tried to defect me for a few things, when i politely told him the car was engineered but that i didnt have the engineers cert. with me (my bad) he
let me off with a warning but said next time he sees me he is going to pull me up and check that i have fixed/removed/replaced the stuff he wanted to
defect me for and to have the engineers cert. with me...
In the 3/4 of an hour hr had me pulled over he tried to tell me i had two right or two left headlights. My rear number plate had rattled a bolt loose
and half fallen and he said if i drive off and it falls off he was gonna pull me up and book me for it!!!
THEN he asked me where i was going, where i came from and why i choose the way i had come when i could go such and such way....
THEN He got in his car, did a burnout whilst throwing the car around in a 180 and went directly thru a red light, no lights, no siren
and speed at about 100km/h in a 50km/h zone....

Dont let em get to ya Bronze...
There are good coppers out there...
Somewhere...

I once got an "Undue and excessive noise" in a 1600 sp 1967 beetle with stock exhaust.... I lost traction "accidentally" in a
patch of dirt on the road, and the coppers couldnt think of anything else to book me for. It was worth a laugh though, as thats the fine in WA
reserved for people doing burnouts etc etc. hahahaha
Also had my Baja pulled over once for overtaking someone who was doing about 15k's under the limit. Cops went over my car front to back and didnt
give me a canary for anything. THAT made me very happy (having only built it 2 months beforehand from the ground up).
Ive known some brilliant cops and met some real pigs. Just treat them all very very politely and you are usually safe.
Unless of course they dont like old cars, in which case you are screwed. Even if you are in the right with a fully engineered car.

Got pulled over (in UK) once on the back of a mates VW Trike.
They couldn't find anything wrong with the bike(Car?) and then they spotted I was drinking beer out of a pint pot so they accused me of theft
(the glass) and took me to the local pub to get the landlord to press charges!
Trouble is I was the new landlord so they were left kinda speechless
They warned me not to do it again (Never said what) and left.

Now that sounds like my luck.
Well the coppa that pulled me up was actually very nice. He did let me off the U-turn and put the lights and siren on for the kids. As a X-Uni student
it was an expensive occasion. I had to wait for my wife to come and get me so I busied myself by taking a pic.
It is unfortunate that there are real Pigs out there when it comes to cops. They do have a hard job to (like most of us) do but there is really no
reason to flout their responsibility to the public. Like any profession you going to get the odd individuals who do that.
Anyhow we have just returned from a great three days camping (After my license renewal Sat morn) and didn't see a single cop the whole weekend.
Fortunately as the corrigated roads have reaped havoc on my wiring.
Thanks for sharing - keep em coming!

I got a speeding fine from a push bike cop about 2 years ago. The little s**t was hiding behind a bus shelter with a radar gun and got me. When this
bloke wearing cycle pants ran out on the road to stop me, I didn't know whether to stop or run him over. Realised he was a cop at the last minute
and stopped hard.
Wonder if he would have given chase on the pushie if I had driven right on by.

I think Hoonbug is immune for some reason. I was making my way through traffic at about 85 km/h in a 60 road works zone on the Geelong Rd Building
Site the other morning. I don't normally speed in these sections as I agree with the idea that the road workers don't need 100 km/h cars
running close to their worksites. But this is in the bits where they are actually finished, four lanes, all open, no workers, no machinery, nothing
left to do but still sixty so the govt can open the road and say "look at how much faster it is now" on the appointed day).
Anyway, I noticed this white commodore coming up behind me, so I pulled in to the left lane, and let him go past, and then pulled back out behind him.
Then I saw the lights on the parcel shelf and backed off. He must have been doing 90 himself. He could have booked thousands of cars if he had wanted
to.

On the subject of plain clothes police cars, keep an eye out for a plain blue VT Commode station wagen on the Western Ring Road in Melbourne. Looks
like your everyday sale reps car, but you don't want what he's selling. :cry

Helbus was pulled over late last week for having no front number plate.
Fleur explained to the cop that I had only taken the bar off the night before, and the plate was in the bus.
He said she should have it on the dash at least, and told her to get on her way..
