Door Pockets

Does anyone know what year Beetles first came out with the elastic pockets in the doors. My '68 does'nt have them and they'd be real handy....assuming that later ones will fit.

Yep, that'd do it, I need somewhere to put my interior light - penlight torch- :) but I dont know if later door trims fit ie holes etc.

Door trims- 1968» 1976 same doors...

Yes 1968 door trims are the same as on later beetles up to the last one in 1976..
The door pockets were never really successful ... they always fell apart after years of service.... You can buy new ones..
ie.. a full set of 4 , 2 x doors 2 x rears...
usually black...

The new ones from Volkspower are made in Brazil. They have pockets both sides. I found them to fit pretty good and they are made using water resistant masonite.

I also used plastic to cover the whole inner of the door as shown in the pics. "Respray of Beetle part II"

They were so cheap that I could not justify at this stage spending any more on interior trim. :D

Thanks Pete, Water resistant masonite will be ideal for my body type :) although drain holes in the pockets could be called for if we ever get any rain here!

FWIW the guys at Volkspower quoted me $100 (I think) for a set of 4.....Brilliant!
Roger.

Why do I get the impression that vw54 has a vested interest in Vintage :D

No interest i just know what they have when people ask and know the quality of the different products and the services that various places provide.... its called sharing ones knowledge.

You dont have to listen to me or take my advice i am only giving you an option.
