VW Magazines pro's and cons

I do it all the time and still think it's a waste of money at times. Buying magazines! In a month i will spend about $40 on various mags , thats nearly $500 a year!!
The reasons i buy these mags is to obviously read up on things and gain inspiration but also to be up with whats going on. Down side is that from times it's repeated articles and boring cars and heaps of adds. I may draw a few things from the cars featured but so many look so similar. How many articles do you need on glass replacement!! Keep me in a job! When i think of how $500 would be good for the car it DOES make me wonder why i buy so many ! Why do you buy mags?

Must admit I do the same, buy the mag then realise its the same stuff all the time.
Still buy them though. Did like Total VW as it wasnt as commercialised as the others and they showed normal cars as well as the mega money ones.

Cheers

There needs to be alot more readers cars. Lets face it at a show etc there are more cars outside the gate than in it and the best cars can sometimes be found in the car park! As you said you kind of get fed up with mega buck cars , big motors etc. Have to say i find the clever stuff and workmanship more interesting and impressive than some dil that's got $20,000 and paid someone to build him/her a ride. Original , cool and trick is what appeals to me , look at the "Preacher" in Ultra VW. What a car!!! No huge motor etc but an awful lot of thought and one hell of a cool bug

danny- what a scary post....

i agree with the following:

the best cars are definately found in the car park at shows.

just read the article about 'preacher' and agree it is awesome.

i spend way too much on car magazines (i don't just buy vw ones:o )

i tend to only find a couple of pages which interest me in each mag. but i can't stop buying them....

and i'll add this one:

i havn't got enough room to store them all!!!! what will it be like in another 5 years? or 10:o i'll need a barn for my car magazines!

I used to trash my brothers bike / Custom Car mags , throwing them on floor , ripping covers off etc. Looking back i can see why he used to beat the living daylights out of me for doing that!

i bought someones collection of old bike mags, bloody sh*tloads of them, they are great fun to browse through!

i couldn't even guess how many magazines i have, but i know it's a hell of a lot!

danny - only a 1000 bucks worth? if i could refund the cover price of every magazine i own i would be a seriously rich man!!!! (worth noting that i didn't pay cover price for ALL of them, some were published befotre i was born ;)
