HELP !! Front Brakes stuck,,, URGENT !!
Hey all,,,
Going for REGO today !!!
Everything passed but the front disc brakes in my 73 Kombi have suck,,,, any ideas how to unstick ????
I only have until 130 thisarvo to get em going (have to go get an engineers Cert for Pop-top)
HELP !!

When I was doing my type 3 mine stuck to as car sat for 5 years
What I did is take wheels of and then use something to force open the brake pads then get some sand paper and clean off all the rust on rotors and
pads . if thats not the trouble it could be in your master cyd as had that happen just after rego try bleeding thr master cyd and see what happens if
not my need exchange for another one

it's going to be a wheel-off operation unfortunately. either the caliper piston is siezed in the caliper (or wheel cyliner), or master cylinder
piston has siezed in place. Also, minis used to have brake hoses collapse, causing residual pressure to remain in the brakes.
go around and crack each bleed nipple, if you get a squirt of fluid, it's either the brake hose collapsed, or master cylinder. if no fluid squirt,
then it's at the wheel.

I think you will find that the flexable brake hose have perished on the inside and wont allow the brake fluid to release from the caliper.
Try fitting new brake flex hoses

I passed rego !!!! (got the blue slip) will get rego 2morrow,,
Man, had to get engineers cert for the pop-top as my kombi is not a factory camper (cost $175 ouch!!), also have to get weighed, otherwise all is
good.
The brakes are still sticking but not as bad, they have loosened up, but will pull em down on the weekend, oh yeah and will check the hoses too,,,

try checking with surf kombi, he has got 2 73 kombi, both have had exactly the same problem. he might give you some info... happy camping

If your doing the front hoses You might as well do the rear flex ones at the same time.
Ive had this problem on several cars.
If you can get a different coloured brake fluid to the one thats in the reserviour already it will make it easier to flush right through the system
If the front caliper pistons are sticking then remove the caliper and try freeing up in a vice first befoire pulling them apart
