Clutch question - please help

Will I be able to fit a pressure plate and the clutch from 71 type 3 into 71 1600 type 1 super beetle? Any modification needed? What are the important things to remember when removing the clutch from the engine? Help needed please.
Thanks
Nino

this should fit up fine ,keep in mind that at this time you need to replace the o ring in the fly wheel and fit a new main oil seal as well ( case ) .

You need to read about the torqe of the crank bolt and how to hold this to get it off and get it tight . seagull

If there is no oil leak and the crank end play is OK, then there is no need to remove the flywheel.
The pressure plate bolts should be remove in sequence a little at a time - to stop distorting the plate. Install using the same method.
You will need to align the clutch driven plate, when installing the pressure plate.
If you don't have the proper tool, then a short extension from a half inch socket set comes in handy with a bit of juggling!

Hi

The 71 pressure palte should have a ring on it for the early thrust race, if it does remove it and let the later bearing face touch the fingers.
