Removable beetle apron ?

Howdy all,

Am looking at rebuilding my beetle and have seen cars somewhere on her with a removable engine apron, making engine removal a quicker process. My beetle will be used for clubsprints, hillclimbs etc and so am anticipating that it has a greater chance of removal, then if it was a straight road car. Are these a make at home thing, or does someone supply the panels. My C/Buggy has a removable apron and it makes life so easy..

ta

'Dasdubber' on this forum has been incorporating a removable apron into his Beetle rebuild.

The following link is a starting point, but I'm sure there are more photos and details available.
